Project Scope - Commissioned Art Work
Project - Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon, Down South, Sri Lanka
Project Year - 2021
Project Architect - MICD Architects, Sri Lanka
I had the privilege of collaborating with 'Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon' hotel as a digital artist, tasked with transforming their main dining area into a captivating space. Working alongside MICD architects, our goal was to create an exciting atmosphere through commissioned artwork. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant down-south Sri Lankan mask culture and the hotel's culinary offerings, I embarked on a journey to merge tradition, food, and imagination.
After valuable discussions with the architects, we decided on an interactive art piece encircling the buffet counter. This installation aimed to immerse guests in a visual feast while they indulged in culinary delights. Drawing from the rich heritage of down-south Sri Lankan mask culture, I seamlessly blended cultural traditions with the vibrant world of food, reflecting the essence of the hotel's main dining experience.
The main dining area of 'Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon' is a gathering place for both locals and tourists, making it the perfect platform to showcase the beauty and depth of Sri Lankan culture. Through the art piece, I aimed to evoke wonder and curiosity in the hearts of all who encountered it. Whether reconnecting with their roots or discovering Sri Lankan heritage for the first time, visitors became part of a cultural exchange. The art piece acted as a bridge, fostering understanding and appreciation between different cultures.
Completing the commissioned art project at 'Hikka Tranz by Cinnamon' has been a transformative experience as a digital artist. By merging traditional down-south Sri Lankan mask culture with the culinary realm, I created a vibrant and captivating art piece that breathes life into the main dining area. As guests gather around the buffet counter, they not only enjoy a culinary feast but also embark on a visual journey through the traditions, stories, and flavors of Sri Lanka. My hope is that this art piece becomes a cherished symbol of cultural unity and appreciation for all who encounter it at this remarkable hotel.
